P. Surendran is one of the postmodern short story writers in Malayalam. He has published many award-winning books in Malayalam, including short story collections, novels, travelogues, and art criticism. He received the Odakuzhal Award for his collection of short stories, Chinese Market. He has published articles on his experiences from his travels to various parts of India and Nepal. His book Gramapathangal won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Travelogue in 2013.
