Maya Pramod

Dr. Maya, originally from Changanassery, now resides in Thrissur. She completed her PhD research in the Department of History (Autonomous) at Christ College, Irinjalakuda. She currently works as a faculty member at the School of Gender Studies, Mahatma Gandhi University.She attained higher education after overcoming several personal and social challenges. Her doctoral research focused on “The Socio-Economic History of Dalit Colonies in Kerala with Special Reference to Social Capital.”For the past 14 years, she has been writing and working on issues related to Dalits, Adivasi colonies, history, and women’s empowerment in various mainstream and independent magazines in Kerala.She has received several recognitions, including the Prajahita Foundation Award and Mavelinadu Research Grants. In 2019, her thesis was selected for distinction, and she won the Bluestone Rising Scholar Award in a prestigious global competition on the theme of caste, organised by Brandeis University in the USA. She also visited the United States to present her research at various universities.Currently, she is working on her first book and a new research project.
