Panthi is inspired by the 1917 Panthibhojanam in Kerala, initiated by Sahodaran Ayyappan, which challenged caste discrimination by bringing people from different castes together for a communal meal. This act, rooted in Sree Narayana Guru‘s teachings, aimed to dismantle rigid caste hierarchies. Panthi continues this spirit by engaging critically with local, national, and global systems of oppression – from Hindutva fascism and patriarchy to colonialism and capitalism. It centers the experiences of marginalized communities in India—Minorities, Dalits, Indigenous peoples, Women, Sexual minorities, and others—whose labor and knowledge are routinely overlooked and devalued.
Panthi advocates for dialogue, justice, and self-rule for the subaltern, working towards a more inclusive, diverse, and humane society. As a collective of like-minded individuals, Panthi will utilize modern communication platforms to raise awareness and foster meaningful discussions on these crucial issues.

-Kabirകേരളത്തിലെ വ്യത്യസ്ത ജാതികളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ആളുകൾ ഒരുമിച്ച് ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ച പന്തിഭോജനം എന്ന ചരിത്ര സംഭവത്തിൽ നിന്ന് പ്രചോദനം ഉൾക്കൊണ്ടാണ് പന്തി എന്ന പേര് വന്നുചേർന്നത്‌. ശ്രീനാരായണ ഗുരുവിൻ്റെ പ്രധാന ശിഷ്യരിൽ ഒരാളായ സഹോദരൻ അയ്യപ്പൻ 1917 ൽ തുടക്കം കുറിച്ച ഈ സംഭവം കേരളത്തിൽ ആഴത്തിൽ വേരൂന്നിയ ജാതി വ്യവസ്ഥയെ വെല്ലുവിളിക്കുന്നതായിരുന്നല്ലോ. അതുപോലെ നിലനിൽക്കുന്ന പ്രബല വ്യവഹാരങ്ങളെ വിമർശനാത്മകമായി പരിശോധിക്കുകയും ചൂഷണത്തിൻ്റെയും അടിച്ചമർത്തലിൻ്റെയും സംവിധാനങ്ങളെ സൃഷ്ടിപരമായി ചെറുക്കുകയുമാണ് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൗത്യം. അതുകൊണ്ട് കൊളോണിയലിസത്തിൻ്റെയും മുതലാളിത്ത പ്രത്യയശാസ്ത്രങ്ങളുടെയും ജാതി മേൽക്കോയ്‌മയുടെയും അധീശ വ്യവഹാരങ്ങളെ വിശകലനം ചെയ്യുക പന്തിയുടെ പ്രധാന ദൗത്യമായി വരുന്നു.
ന്യൂനപക്ഷങ്ങൾ, സ്ത്രീകൾ, ലൈംഗിക ന്യൂനപക്ഷങ്ങൾ, ആദിവാസി വിഭാഗങ്ങൾ, ദലിതുകൾ, മത്സ്യത്തൊഴിലാളികൾ എന്നിവരുൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള പാർശ്വവൽക്കരിക്കപ്പെട്ട സമൂഹങ്ങൾ സാമൂഹികവും പാരിസ്ഥിതികവുമായ അനീതികളുടെ എക്കാലത്തെയും ഇരകളാണ്. അവരുടെ അധ്വാനവും അറിവും അനുഭവങ്ങളും പലപ്പോഴും അംഗീകരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത് സവർണ്ണ ജാതി/മൂലധന താല്പര്യങ്ങളുടെ മാനദണ്ഡങ്ങളാൽ സാധൂകരിക്കപ്പെടുമ്പോൾ മാത്രമാണ്. ഈ അനീതികളെ വെല്ലുവിളിക്കുകയും തുറന്നുകാട്ടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന ആഗോള പ്രസ്ഥാനങ്ങളുടെയും വ്യക്തികളുടെയും പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളുമായി പന്തി ഐക്യപ്പെടുന്നു. അതുപോലെ വെറുപ്പും വിഭജനവും ഉന്നം വയ്ക്കുന്ന ഹിന്ദുത്വ പ്രത്യാശാസ്ത്രത്തെ തുറന്നു കാട്ടുന്നതും മറ്റൊരു ദൗത്യമായിരിക്കും. സമാന ചിന്താഗതിക്കാരായ വ്യക്തികളുടെ കൂട്ടായ്മ എന്ന നിലയിൽ, ഇത്തരം നിർണായക പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച് അവബോധം പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനും അർത്ഥവത്തായ ചർച്ചകൾ പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനും ആധുനിക ആശയവിനിമയ സംവിധാനങ്ങൾ പന്തി പ്രയോജനപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതായിരിക്കും.

He is a recipient of Maja Koene Social Journalist award.

Asokakumar V. a former teacher at Marancherry Government Higher Secondary School in Malappuram District, Kerala, is a writer. He served as the editor of the magazine Ore Bhoomi Ore Jeevan and has authored several books and articles in Malayalam addressing environmental issues, health, culture, politics, and agriculture. The Other India Press published his book Disease-Spawning Chemical Fertilizer. A member of the Kerala Jaiva Karshaka Samiti, his writings often explore cultural politics in the post-colonial context.
Chinnan
Traveled across Kerala with a 16mm projector, screening films as part of the Odessa Collective. Completed a post-graduate diploma in painting at MSU FA, Baroda. Conducted numerous workshops on a variety of subjects, including “Artist’s Book”, “Typography”, and “Art & Technology”. Participated in many exhibitions across India, but paused painting after a solo show in 2012. Recently, made a return to art practice during the pandemic.

A.K. Ravindran
A.K. Ravindran was a Naxalite sympathizer from 1969 until the Emergency withdrawal. From then until 1983, he actively engaged in diverse left-wing inquiries and activities. Later, he became an ally of neo-social movements. Now residing in Muringur near Chalakudy, he has published books on subaltern studies in Malayalam.

As a journalist, have written on various aspects of sustainability/environment – particularly as it relates to economy, politics and society – in leading online outlets such as The Wire, Scroll, and News Click. Created and edited the website www.ecologise.in, which curated selected content on emerging global crises.
